At Beverley Hills Primary School, students truly receive “A Great Start” to their educational journey. The school provides high‑quality programs within a safe, supportive environment, ensuring every child is given the opportunity to achieve their personal best.
A strong focus is placed on the foundations of literacy and numeracy, supported by well‑researched, well‑resourced, and consistently high‑quality teaching programs. Beverley Hills has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence and outstanding student outcomes. Students are encouraged to excel not only in their academic studies but also in the Arts, Sport, and key life skills. Numeracy
At BHPS, we emphasise explicit Numeracy teaching tailored to students from Foundation through to Year 6. Our program builds strong number sense and mathematical understanding, developing essential skills in number, problem‑solving, measurement, geometry and mathematical reasoning. We pride ourselves on extending student’s mathematical knowledge. With targeted instruction, engaging learning experiences and enrichment opportunities, including Maths Games and the Maths Olympiad, our students continue to excel. This commitment is reflected in their consistently outstanding results in NAPLAN and the ICAS Mathematics assessments.
Literacy
At BHPS, we emphasise explicit Literacy teaching from Foundation through to Year 6. Guided by the principles of the Science of Reading, our program develops strong and confident readers, writers and communicators by building essential skills in reading, writing, comprehension, grammar and speaking.
We pride ourselves on extending every student’s ability. Our commitment to high‑quality, targeted instruction and rich, purposeful learning experiences is reflected in our students’ consistently outstanding results in both NAPLAN and the ICAS English assessments.
Science
BHPS Our Science program encourages children to explore the world around them through engaging, age‑appropriate lessons. From Prep to Year 6, students gradually build their scientific understanding and inquiry skills by asking questions, making predictions, investigating ideas and reflecting on their findings. This steady, hands‑on approach supports curiosity, flexible thinking, respect for evidence and thoughtful decision‑making, helping students develop a genuine and lasting interest in science.
Humanities
At BHPS, our Humanities program helps students explore and understand the people, places and events that shape Australia and the wider world. Students learn how societies develop, how environments change, and how individuals and communities face and overcome challenges. Through rich and purposeful learning experiences, students build the knowledge and skills they need to become thoughtful, informed and active global citizens.

Performing Arts
BHPS offers Performing Arts program with Music at its core, supported by Dance and Drama. Students enjoy weekly sessions from Prep to Year 6, choir opportunities, biennial concerts and rich performance experiences.
Digital Technologies
BHPS students use technology to build skills in coding, computational thinking, collaboration and digital citizenship. From Prep to Year 6, students create digital solutions through hands‑on learning aligned with the Victorian Curriculum.
Visual Arts
BHPS provides weekly Visual Arts lessons where students explore drawing, painting, textiles, ceramics and construction. The program builds skills, creativity and cross‑curricular connections. Student work is displayed year‑round, with highlights including the biennial Art Show, an Artist in Residence, and the Year 6 Graduation art project.
Physical Education
BHPS delivers a high‑quality Physical Education (PE) program that builds fitness, skills, teamwork and positive attitudes. Students participate in weekly PE sessions. Junior students develop fundamental movement skills, while Senior students apply these skills to more complex games. Prep students also participate in Perceptual Motor Program (PMP), which fosters fun, cooperation and confidence while learning new skills.
School Camp Program – Years 3 to 6
BHPS offers school camps for all students from Years 3 to 6. These experiences play an important role in students’ overall development by building social skills, fostering independence and resilience, encouraging connection with nature, and creating lasting memories.
This year’s, the camping program includes:
• Year 3: 2-night camp at Mt Evelyn Discovery Camp
• Year 4: 2-night camp at Lady Northcote Discovery Camp
• Year 5: 3-night camp at Camp Weekaway
• Year 6: 4-night Canberra Tour
Educational Excursions
Our excursion and sporting program typically includes:
• Participation in Round Robin Sports (Years 4 – 6), athletics days (Years 4 – 6), swimming programs, and skill‑building clinics that encourage teamwork, fitness and sportsmanship
• Year‑level excursions that connect directly to classroom learning
• Hands‑on workshops and presentations delivered at school to extend learning in areas such as science.
Mandarin Program
At Beverley Hills Primary School, students from Foundation to Year 6 participate in a Mandarin lesson each week. Our Mandarin program provides a rich intercultural learning experience.
Each term focuses on a new topic, exploring themes ranging from everyday routines to cultural celebrations. Important festivals are incorporated into learning, and our whole‑school Chinese New Year celebration is a highlight of the year.
Digital tools, including iPads, support guided and independent learning, helping students develop confidence in listening, speaking, reading and cultural understanding.
English as an Additional Language (EAL)
BHPS proudly supports its large EAL community by providing welcoming, culturally inclusive environments and strong language support.
We are committed to offering small‑group teaching for newly arrived students, giving them frequent opportunities to speak, read and write, and to quickly gain confidence in their new language.
Students attend several EAL sessions each week, and all staff are trained in EAL strategies, helping students settle quickly, feel supported and thrive.
BHPS is proud of its partnership with Blackburn English Language School (BELS) with many of our new arrival students spending six-month at BELS before commencing at BHPS

- Submit an enrolment application for Foundation (Prep) by Friday 31 July 2026.
- You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 3 August and Friday 14 August 2026.
- If you receive an enrolment offer, you should contact our school to accept the offer by Friday 28 August 2026.
- Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2026.
- Prepare your child to start Foundation (Prep) from Friday 29 January 2027.
Enrolment applications submitted after 31 July 2026 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.
Our school has an enrolment restriction under section 2.2.16 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic). Approved entry criteria for our school are:
- students who live within the school zone
- students with a sibling attending the school at the same time
- students seeking enrolment on compassionate grounds, in exceptional circumstances.
All students seeking enrolment at our school must meet one of the above criteria to be eligible for enrolment.
The department will review this enrolment restriction yearly and provide updated advice as necessary.

BHPS manages enrolments using the Department of Education’s Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.
Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined based on your permanent residential address. Please use the Find my School website to confirm that your residential address is in the BHPS school zone.

BHPS uses an online system for new enrolments to Victorian government schools called VicStudents. VicStudents enrolment is available for students who are applying to a Victorian Government School for the first time. This includes Prep (Foundation).

Information for Parents
The BHPS School Council includes parents, staff and the Principal, with optional community members. Elected for two‑year terms, the Council meets monthly—on the third Wednesday at 8.00pm—to manage finances, approve budgets, develop policies, oversee facilities and make key decisions on behalf of the school community.
Parent Volunteers play an important role in the smooth running of BHPS, supporting classroom activities, excursions, fundraising events and school programs. All parents are encouraged to get involved. Volunteers must hold a valid Working with Children Check, sign the school’s Code of Conduct, sign in at the office and wear a visitor badge. Working with Children Checks for volunteers are free and available online.
BHPS uniforms are available online or in‑store through Spartan School World. The uniform includes sky‑blue logo polos, royal‑blue shorts, trackpants, jackets and seasonal items such as summer dresses and winter tunics. Students must wear school‑appropriate footwear (no open toe shoes), and cultural or health‑related uniform modifications are supported.
Parents can place lunch orders online:
• Mondays and Fridays through Classroom Cuisine
• Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through Tasty Canteen/My School Connect
• Orders must be placed before 8:30am on the day and require a one‑time account registration.
TeamKids offers high‑quality Before, After and Vacation Care programs focused on fun, safety and engagement. Children enjoy nutritious food, exciting events, themed zones, screen‑free activities, clubs and term challenges. A full‑time Director of Service ensures exceptional care.
