Music
The Performing Arts strand of education includes dance, music and drama. At Beverley Hills Primary School we are committed to providing all children with opportunities to experience and participate in all areas of the performing arts.
Children participate in a structured sequential music program each week. They acquire musical knowledge through a balanced program of experiences including singing, listening, playing, moving and creating.
In addition to weekly music lessons for everyone, opportunities exist to play the recorder and join the school choir. Visiting instrumental teachers instruct interested students in guitar, keyboard, piano and drums.
We have a large dedicated music room with a fantastic variety of instruments and musical resources. This allows for all children to be interactive and totally involved in the music programme.
Every second year we have a major focus on drama and dance, culminating in a school concert with every child participating. It is a wonderful opportunity for all students to experience being a part of a whole school performance, in costume, at a professional theatre.
Our school choir and recorder groups have been invited to sing and play at festivals, shopping centres and in our local community. Individual students, grades and small music groups perform at our weekly assembly in front of parents and their peers. Beverley Hills encourages and fosters a love of music in everyone!
